Very dark but very good。A fresh approach to police drama。 I still cannot figure out why a Scots attorney chose Nowhere， Nebraska for his setting but it works。 Well worth the time to read。

Darker and grittier than expectedHow could a dirty cop be the best person in Cooper？ The situation seems to change every chapter。 Corruption is normal。 Hard life stories abound。 I usually have a feel for how it ends 80% through the book; this time I was so wrong。
